  • Meditation Retreat in Plum Village, France.
  • The 10-Day Vipassana Retreat in Kuantan, Malaysia.

Retirement Village In Malaysia

by Lee Sok Lian|李淑莲

My posts in the “Retirement Village” series attracted so much interest I now find myself inundated with requests from friends to quickly make it happen. Almost without exception everyone I wrote to registered their interest. We have no shortage of eligible applicants with all the relevant skill sets and abilities to help make our retirement village a reality.

Building A Retirement Home With Like-Minded Friends

by Lee Sok Lian|李淑莲

The award-winning program “Get Real” on Channel News Asia reveals that in fifteen years’ time, the number of senior citizens living on their own in Singapore will double to 85,000, many of them living in isolation.

In the midst of researching the topic of retirement and housing options for the elderly, I talked to a great many people from all walks of life. A Taiwanese lady, currently in her late 40s and working in Shanghai, shared with me her exciting retirement plans. When she was in her 30s, she made up her mind not to marry and have children.

In the article, McDonald explains that loneliness can affect many elderly people after their partners have died and their families have long flown the nest.
