Bringing Goodness Home

Written by: Valerie Tan

The Mahota Team had a great time at our Pop-Up Store at the Nanyang Girls School 99th Year Anniversary Homecoming Fair held on 6 Aug Saturday.

Our rustic farm-style pop-up store had a wide array of fresh organic produce, all kinds of colourful fruits and vegetables as well as organic and natural health foods like cereal, coffee, tea, olive oil, vinegar, superfoods like quinoa, chia seeds, coconut oil and flaxseeds and great value combo sets. We also featured freshly baked goods like cookies, breads, biscotti, organic banana cake and buns at our pop-up, much to the delight of the visitors to the Fair.

Especially popular was our ‘live’ mooncake and protein ball making demo by our Chef, the free sampling drew many interested parents, students, teachers and visitors throughout the day, glad to report that our vegan, natural and superfoods mooncakes sold like hot cakes!

The Mahota team was glad to share more useful healthy eating and cooking tips with all the guests. We believe in ‘building community through good food’ and that ‘every ingredient has a story’. By sharing all the precious stories and hard work that went into producing the food that we eat, we help shorten the distance between the growers and consumers, so that more people get to appreciate the food we eat and the people who produced it.

Many who came expressed great appreciation for organic farmers, sharing with us that they fully appreciate the hard work that organic farmers put in to produce healthy, safe and nutritious food crops. Choosing organic is not only good for our health but also good for the environment and the world we live in. Without nasty pesticides and chemical fertilisers, by choosing to strengthen biodiversity and caring for the land, we are helping to take good care of the soil for the next generation. Organic farming therefore not only helps produce great food crops for our consumption, it also helps ensure a sustainable future for those who inhabit it.

Our wish is simple, to leave the world a better place than how we found it.
